The Newest Fashion Cafe On The Block ∣ Sunnies Cafe


It’s no secret that the main attraction in any café-slash-restaurant is the food. And what do other reviews say about it? #Foodstagram-worthy, guaranteed to meet your #feedgoals, and completely #foodgasmic. After long months of waiting Sunnies Studios has unveiled their first branch of Sunnies Cafe at BGC! Sunnies Cafe has been dubbed as newest go-to spot (from brunch to dinner,coffee to cocktails) because of its Instagram-worthy food and interiors. Sunnies have live to its name. I so loved their pastel hues interiors. Their menu is a collection of our favorite comfort food but with a modern twist, that you'll surely love. Sunnies Cafe owners are the same genius group of creatives behind Sunnies Studios that’s why they almost has the same branding style. Eric Dee, president of Foodee Global Concepts handling the Tim Ho Wan and Chin brands along with partners Eric Dee Jr., and wife Bea, Martine Cajucom and celebrity Georgina Wilson have formed Spoons and Sunnies, the company vehicle for Sunnies Café.

I've always wanted to try out Sunnies Cafe as soon as they start serving food junkies like me. Therefore, I got the privilege to see if the hype is real. Well, so far I'm very pleased and not disappointed at all from the time I entered their haven until my happy tummy was screaming with delight. Now, let's get down to business. I know you've all been waiting for this....

Ok, t'was a sunny Wednesday afternoon when I went there. As I was about to enter their charming restaurant. The first thing i've noticed is their friendly staff. She greeted and ushered me to my chosen table right away. I was about to browse through their menu, when the staff mentioned their must-try dishes. And according to her.... these are: sunnies risotto, salmon poke quinoa, steak lime, crispy tacos, whole roasted cauliflower, fried goat cheese squares, pumpkin puree, baked squid-ink lasagna, spicy pomodoro, butcher's steak, pan-seared miso salmon, spicy garlic, lemon curd blondie, and black bottom banana cream pie.

So I quickly ordered, the Honey- Garlic Crispy Chicken. And to my surprise, I wasn't disappointed at all. I believe that I was kinda famished when I got there. So, I expected to eat like it's my first meal of the day (wait for it....). After 10-15 mins of waiting time. My ordered came (YAAAS! Happy Kiddo, right here). First impression with regard to the aesthetic presentation of my food, I must say, it's really an instagram and trust-worthy one (as other social geeks would say). Yes, it looks tasty. And yes, it's very pleasing to a hungry person like me. It looks like I have found my new comfort food (Yeey!!). Moreover, the best part is when I had my first bite of their Honey-Crispy Chicken. If you saw me, my eyes shimmer with joyfulness. The taste of it was obviously really good. The crispiness of the chicken will leave you wanting more and more. Actually, it's a perfect combination because they paired it with a cilantro lime rice and pickled cucumber. To make it more flavorful, I bet they used cayenne pepper as one of their main ingredients.

When I began to swallow and digest the awesome chicken. It’s crispy. Super, super, super crispy. So crispy. And while that spiced breading is largely responsible for the deliciousness of this chicken, the sauce just knocks it out of this world. That sauce. So simple, so deceiving. So freaking yummy. Happy noises while eating this. Together, this chicken will seriously make you ignore everything else except devising ways on how to face plant yourself into a mountain of these for the rest of your life.

POT ROAST SHORT RIB

Then there's this USDA braised short ribs, roasted bone marrow, creamy mashed potatoes, pickled shallots. If you’ve never had braised short ribs before, you’re missing out on one of life’s great pleasures—and I’m not exaggerating this time. Short ribs are like the most flavorful, delectable, tender, soft pot roast you can possibly imagine. Even now, days later, I’m dying from bliss. It was so, so good. While for most people, bone marrow falls squarely in that category of ingredients best left to chefs to deal with. Roasted Bone Marrow. It sounds so fancy and complicated, right? Well, i'm here to tell you that, while it may be a little fancy, it’s basically one of the easiest restaurant-y things you could possibly bring home. all animal bones have marrow in them. But when you see “marrow” on a menu, it refers almost exclusively to the milky-white stuff found inside the femur bones of beef cows. Why so specific? Because those are some of the thickest, straightest bones on the animal, which means more—and more easily accessible—marrow. What an elegant treat this roasted bone marrow was. It's all about decadent food that’s comforting at the same time. This dish is the epitome of classic French cooking to me—simple ingredients and methods with outrageously delicious results.
