Experience Love at First Sip ∣ Black Canyon Coffee

If you walk into a coffee shop today, you’ll find people engaged in an assortment of activities: checking the news, writing essays, reading stories and chatting with friends. Throughout history, these are the ways people have spent their time in coffee houses. We may get our news from the internet instead of a neighbor and write on a laptop instead of on paper. We might read on a Kindle instead listen to a storyteller, text our friends instead of talk with someone next to us and stalk old acquaintances on Facebook instead of people watch. People have always used coffee houses for getting news, exchanging ideas, listening to stories and visiting with friends, though. Even hanging out at a coffee shop for hours while spending almost nothing isn’t new.

Is your daily dose of coffee just not enough for you? Are you looking for something a little extra? Perhaps some coffee education? Or the latest gossip in the coffee industry? Then this coffee blog just might be for you. You are on the right page, sweethearts.

Most people wake up every morning with a routine: hit the alarm clock, take a shower, get dressed and grab some coffee.

Ah, yes: COFFEE. The hot beverage this country runs on (even though we live in a tropical country), with the average Filipino consuming upward of 3.1 cups of brewed coffee per day! And with the ever-hurried pace of our everyday lives, people have less and less time to percolate their coffee at home. The morning (and afternoon and mid-afternoon and evening …) shot of caffeine is an on-the-go commodity, with many coffee drinkers spending over 50,000 per year on lattes from coffee shops. So where do people go to get their daily fix?

Have you ever heard of this coffee shop named Black Canyon Coffee?

I bet you did. Because there Coffee is trendier than ever, with new methods, such as poured over coffee and cold-brewed coffee, making their way into the spotlight. Black Canyon Coffee has an array of different coffee to choose from, that will surely satisfy your daily cravings. The competition for being the coffee spot people hit when they need a beverage is fierce, as coffee shops are literally around every corner. But, this one-stop coffee shop is different. And one of a kind. What do I mean when I say "one-stop" coffee shop?

They offer not just coffee. But, also scrumptious food and dessserts. With the chefs unique culinary expertise, Black Canyon also offers an extensive food menu which includes, Western dishes such as soups, salads, sandwiches, steaks and pasta aside from the Authentic Thai dishes such as Pad Thai, Tom Yum Goong, Rad Na, Green Curry Soup and Thai Spicy Salads (sounds yummy, isn't?). Because, indeed they are.

Black Canyon (Thailand) Company Lt., was established in 1993 to operate specialty coffee houses, serving to its customers Thai food dishes of the highest quality. That is to why, it was also brought here in the Philippines, and they also adhere to the quality standards of Black Canyon Thailand, their Baristas and Chefs were continuously train to follow the strict standard of what they have in Black Canyon Thailand.

Black Canyon finely selects quality coffee beans from the Agricultural Projects under Royal Patronage and combines them with those imported from coffee-producing sources all over the world.

The roasted coffee beans are then brewed in espresso machines imported from Italy, so as to keep their taste and standards, which is the uniqueness of the Black Canyon Coffee.

One coffee shop can build a solid reputation by offering quality products. A major complaint in this type of business is that the drinks don’t always taste the same. So you can get a latte one day that is great and then one that isn’t so good the next. Using quality products as well as properly training staff can significantly reduce the chances of such problems occurring. And that's what Black Canyon Coffee is all about. They offer not just quality beans. But, also a well-trained staff. That can provide and live up to the expectations of the consumers.

They always keep in mind that the quality of the service at their coffee shop is way important too. They believe that also, those behind the counter have to represent their business in the best possible manner. So, they are very selective about who to hire to do such an important job. Because, no one wants to get their coffee from someone that appears to be bothered to do it (right? And would you?).

DEFINING "QUALITY" in a good cup of coffee.

Many customers like the experience of trying something new, and therefore enjoy coffees with unique flavors (LIKE ME!). I expect coffee to be brewed properly, and I can tell the difference when it isn’t. A coffee’s mouth feel and aftertaste are both impacted by the brewing process and can change dramatically based on the extraction rate. Weak, under-extracted coffee will create little body with a sour aftertaste, while strong and over extracted-coffee will taste like bitter sludge. Therefore, don't play coffee games with me.

I have tasted atleast six in each category off their menu.

Properly brewed coffee is one of the biggest reasons why some customers like me, visit a coffee shop instead of making coffee at home.

Let me share to you each of my coffee experience and what I like about them (that will surely be, the talk of the town). And that even you yourself, will be curious about not trying them.

1.) Caramel Blackpuccino Frappe

Great balanced taste. Nice lingering aftertaste (not acrid nor bitter). Nicely texturised milk of good temperature that can be drank instantly. The kind of coffee that makes you want to gulp it all down after the first sip.

2.) Vienna

A good cup of coffee is.... ethically sourced, thoughtfully roasted and brewed to perfection.

3.) Black Canyon Iced Coffee

It was carefully grown, responsibly harvested, fairly acquired, attentively roasted beans that are then in turn brewed appropriately, paying close attention to proper processes every step of the way, all the way up to when it reaches the lips of every thirsty customer.

4.) Chathai yen

There’s just something so special about Thai milk tea that captured our hearts. As I take our first sip, I taste that bitter note that clings to that sweet and creamy flavor of the concoction of brewed black tea, mixed with spices, condensed milk and orange blossom water. Its distinct orange color makes us so curious to try it – and try and try, we’ll never tire of it.

5.) Honey Lime Frappe

This is very new to me. And I must say, I love it. Who would have thought that "Honey Lime" can also be turned into a frappe? Not me. Well, they just did. To me it's somehow like a frozen margarita. However, this doesn't have alcohol in it. So kids and young at heart who's not a fan of alcoholic drinks can also enjoy this.

6.) Avocado Milkshake

Avocado milkshake is one of the best summer drinks I’ve ever had! It is sweet, creamy, refreshing, and fulfilling.

And I didn't stop from there. Surely, all of their drinks are so good. However, for you to have a total Black Canyon experience... you must pair it up with their tasty food. They start from paying close attention in selecting the highest quality raw food materials, that are sourced and delivered directly from reputable suppliers. These are then cooked by their skillful and experienced chef, thus ensuring that they are served freshly cooked to our guests.

All thanks to- Chef Ryan, Chef Wernell and Chef Ken of Ayala Mall The 30th branch, for preparing the dishes for me.

Same with the coffee experience, allow me to share to you what I think you're all been waiting for. Ofcourse, FOOD! Who doesn't love FOOD? Especially when it's THAI. From appetizers down to rice dishes. Name it, I've tried atleast all of their recommended dishes.

Fried Chicken Wings

Fried Vegetarian Spring Rolls

Prawn Cakes

2.) Salad

Grilled Black Pepper Salmon Salad

3.) Pasta

Pasta in Spicy Prawn Soup

Tom Yum Goong ranked 4th place in CNN's World's Best Food for 2017.
